Welcome
to Goa
Collect all your senses and
pack as much films as you can carry, for you will thank us for these recommendations.
After your first small 'culture shock' of India has passed, this breath-taking
Indian version of Portugal will appear to you as fascinating and endearing as to us. Not
just the world famous beaches, the tropical surrounding, the good food and last but not
least, the friendly Goan people create this special ambience. The Portuguese and Indian
cultures melted here to a beneficial alliance. We agree with a Goan short phrase saying '
Oh Milton, if you had ever visited Goa, you would never have written Paradise Lost'.
Goa is not just the land of the happy cows, here you will also find the right mixture of
hospitality, familiar locality, various possibilities for excursions, fantastic beaches
with small restaurants supplying snacks and cold drinks. Just relax and be spoiled. Goa
offers everything to any taste, allow a different India to surprise you.
North Goa
Candolim runs into Calangute, the beach is long and nice. It is a quiet place, but there is no
shortage of good restaurants. Despite the increasing number of charter
customers, you will find an unspoilt village with a small market and church. Calangute/Baga are busier with long sandy beaches and
no rocks, good for
swimming. The are many beach shacks, restaurants and nightlife. A new attraction
is the Saturday night bazaar in Baga/Arpora with plenty of good international
food stalls and live music. It's a meeting place for Goans and tourists alike.
Vagator/Anjuna/Chapora is
one of the most beautiful and interesting part of Goa`s coastline. Vagator is a
attractive little bay between rocky headlands with a series of small beaches and
shady palms. You will discover small family-run restaurants, hospitable locals
and last not least the curious species of (ex) - hippies! Be sure not to miss
the flea market in Ajuna every Wednesday. Over the New Year this is the place to
be for the Techno parties.
Arambol is the place for
budget backpackers. Worth a sightseeing tour by bike. At the moment there is
unfortunately limited accommodation here.
South Goa
In the south
there are four and five star resorts lying close to the beaches. These resorts
offer every comfort for a relaxing holiday.
To experience the
Goan life then you should try the beach in Colva. Here await you hotels,
guesthouses and a village life with restaurants, beach shacks and a tourist
infrastructure. It is less developed than Calangute.
Benaulim, lying
close to Colva, offers basic guest houses and also the new five star Taj
Exotica, Varca, Cavelossim and Marbor are situated some of the best five star hotels.
Palolem offers
beautiful beaches and eco-accommodation in tree houses, tents, shacks or simple
guesthouses. There are also several restaurants here.
Agonda is an
untouched beach 4 kms north of of Palolem and is enjoyed by those who like to
experience nature in quiet surroundings.
